The difference is not a style laid on top. It is the sum of small restraints: a quieter screen, a clearer word, one fewer thing to decide.
None of it announces itself. Good design is felt as ease long before it is noticed as design, and by then it has already done its work.

None of these are decoration. Each is a way of giving a person's attention back to them.
Typography
Language is the interface. Its pace, hierarchy, and tone carry as much meaning as the words, so we set type with the care once reserved for the printed page.
Whitespace
Space is structural, not leftover. It separates ideas, sets rhythm, and lowers the cost of understanding what is in front of you.
Motion
Movement should explain a change, never perform for its own sake. If an animation asks to be noticed, it is too loud, and we take it out.
Restraint
Every element makes a demand on attention. We add only what earns its place, and we treat removal as a design decision of equal weight.
Consistency
Familiar patterns let people think about their work instead of ours. Consistency is how care becomes something a person can rely on.
A belief
The most considered interface is the one you never had to notice.
Type carries the tone of voice.
